Come play!

Hey there everyone! I’m back with a new post, yay! First up, I’d just like to let you know that my gallery is now up to date. It includes all of the latest Digi Dares as well as my Digital’s Next Top Scrapper layouts. Enjoy!

Next up, my SPArty layout was chosen as layout of the week over on the Sweet Shoppe blog. What a nice surprise! I actually really struggled with that layout, for some reason I just couldn’t get it to come together like I wanted. Maybe it was all the pastel pink? hehe It’s nice to see that someone liked how it turned out! hehe

Ok, on to the title of this post! I’m hosting this week’s Digi Dare and I’d love for you all to come play along with me! My youngest sister, Alyssa, turned 20 yesterday so this dare is in honor of her. The challenge is scrap a lesson you’ve learned that you wished you knew when you were twenty. This is what I came up with:

Digi Dare #53 - Lesson Learned

I am seriously in love with how this turned out!! I just love how everything flows together. This was actually something I’d been wanting to do a layout about for awhile but I had just never really had a reason. This seemed like the perfect opportunity. If you want to read the journaling you can click on the link to DST, it’s all posted in the credits there. I actually had to rewrite all of the journaling after Photoshop decided to not release the computer memory and wouldn’t let me save, so lame! Anyway, I really hope you will all come play along - there’s $40 in gift cards up for grabs!! It’s going to be fun, I promise!

Ok, well that’s all I’ve got for now! Until next time…

Holy Crap!

That was my reaction last night when I saw this…

OMG! I actually won something! Woohoo! I’m still not sure I believe it, in fact I was half expecting this morning to check the page and see that I had just dreamt the whole thing. LOL Glad to see I didn’t! Honestly, I’ve had such a rotten week with Adam deploying to Iraq and everything - this has totally made my day. Thanks so much to everyone who voted for me!

And in case you’re wondering here are the runners-up in each level:

Congrats ladies!

Layout Extravaganza Part 2!

It’s taken me a little while to get back as my sister is visiting and I’ve been rushing around trying to get everything ready for her arrival! But I said I’d be back and here I am, complete with 4 more layouts to share. Woohoo!

First up, True Love: This layout was for the new designer scraplift last month at The Digi Chick. I lifted Emily’s Cool Dude layout.

True Love at DST

Now on to some Digi Dares!

This one was for DD #46. The dare was to scrap about why you scrapbook. One of the flairs was to include the word “Why” several times on the page. I think I took that one to heart here! LOL

DD #46 - Why I Scrapbook at DST

This layout was for Digi Dare #47. The challenge that week was to scrap about a first. I decided to do a layout about our first home - we just moved in here at the end of June. I love it!

DD #47 - Home Sweet Home at DST

And finally my layout for this week’s Digi Dare! It’s actually a really cool challenge, you should all come play along. But I do feel I should warn you that my scrap mojo seems to have disappeared this week. I’ve had a really tough time with my layouts and this one was no exception. Sad, because I was really looking forward to scrapping this photo. I still don’t particularly like this layout but eh, that’s the way it goes sometimes! LOL

DD #48 - Seoul Tower at Night at DST

Ok well I think that’s enough eye candy for now! Until next time…

Layout Extravaganza!

Boy I’ve been such a bad blogger that I actually have 6 layouts to share! Look at me go, I’m a scrapping machine! LOL I think I’m going to break them up into two posts though so the posts won’t be so long. Ok here we go!

Lucky Star: Caroline Ikeji was the July Treat of the Month over at the Sweet Shoppe. Love her work! She always layers papers in such a cool way. This was my lift of her C-Tunes layout. I knew as soon as I saw the mini stamp frames by Meredith that I wanted to use them to hold the papers. The kit is Zoe Pearn’s Super Star kit.

Lucky Star at DST

Cute, no? I just love how the picture of Adam came out. It was just a random snapshot I took while we were resting in the shade at the Royal Gorge.

2 Sisters: This was my Spin-a-Lift of Caroline’s Aspen Gold layout. The photo is a random pic from when Alyssa was here visiting. I just love how the colors in this layout came out, it’s so fresh and fun! The kit was the Amber Clegg & Gina Miller Breezy collab kit, available only for the month of July.

2 Sisters at DST

And finally my Digi Dare layout from a few weeks ago. The challenge was to finish the sentence “they think that I’m…” and then journal what the truth is. So basically people’s misconceptions about you. This seriously happens all the time to me, I swear!

Digi Dare #45 - I’m the Oldest
DD #45 - I’m the Oldest at DST

Ok, well that’s all I’ve got for now! Tune in tomorrow for Layout Extravaganza Part 2! Until next time…

Did you see this?

I think I squealed with joy when I saw this:

dnts.jpg

I’m so excited Miss Mint is going to do this again! I had such a blast last year and some of my favorite layouts are STILL from that competition. Out of all the contests I’ve participated in, the format of this one is by far my favorite. I can’t wait!

Digi Dare time!
Ok, so first off I want to thank everyone who played along with my first dare. It was so cool to see all the different layouts and I was really glad I could inspire some people to complete their very first dare. I especially loved seeing the international entries. It was so interesting to see what other people love about their countries. I tried to get around and leave everyone some love on their layouts but there were 1 or 2 posted at sites that I don’t have accounts for so I couldn’t leave you love. But I promise I looked at each and every one of them!

This week’s dare is by Brittany so I knew it was going to be fun one! The challenge is to scrap something unfashionable you do. I actually try really hard not to do anything too unfashionable (no ratty sweatpants here! LOL) but I did manage to come up with something:

Tattered & Torn at DST

My modeling debut! I had to laugh when I finished this layout because I think it looks almost too hip to be about something unfashionable. LOL The layout itself is about this white belt I have that Adam keeps trying to make me get rid of. The problem with it is that it’s white so it gets dirty easily but it has metal that has now rusted thanks to be washed. It didn’t look that bad until we moved into our apartment here in Colorado where the cheap washing machine killed the poor thing! Now the edges are all frayed and I’m always having to snip strings off of it, but I still wear it occasionally anyway. I just like it that much!

And I have another layout to share with you today too:

Summer Fun at DST

This layout was for one of last month’s spin-a-lift challenges at Sweet Shoppe Designs. Love those challenges! The layout itself features the Bubble-licious kit by Zoe Pearn and Christy Lyle. I love this kit, all the papers and elements are so yummy!

Ok well that’s all I’ve got for now! Until next time…

Come play!

Everyone have a good 4th of July? I did!

This week I am hosting my very first Digi Dare challenge. Woohoo! I’d love for you all to come play along. It’s going to be a lot of fun, I promise! You might even win some prizes!

The challenge is to scrap something you love about your country. This is my take on it:

DD #43 - Freedom at DST

I used stock photos for this one simply because I knew what I wanted and I didn’t have anything like that. LOL I would probably have tried to do my own take on the flag photo but since Alyssa is here visiting I didn’t have time for that. But I’m happy with how it came out anyway!

Ok, that’s all I’ve got for now! Make sure you stop by ScrapArtist and pick up some goodies. Everything is 30% off through Sunday! If you’re unsure what to buy, I recommend some Amber Clegg designs. ; )

Until next time…

Layout time!

I’m going to keep this short because my sister arrives today to visit and I still have a few things to do before I go pick her up at the airport. Woohoo!

Here’s my layout for Digi Dare 42. Come play along! The challenge was to scrap about an unanswered prayer that ended up being a blessing. For some reason I had a really hard time with this one. I’m still not sure I love what I did but I’m just glad I managed to finished it at all with all the moving craziness! Ok here ya go:

DD #42 - Job Hunt at DST

Ok that’s all I’ve got for now! Be sure to stop by the Digi Dare blog this Friday where I will be hosting my very first dare! It’s going to be awesome!

Dare time!

This week’s Digi Dare is up on the blog. Come play with us! This week’s challenge is to scrap a “secret” word. This is what I came up with:

Ba Doop A Doop at DST

This was such a fun layout to do. A couple of people thought the photo was an extraction but it’s actually just a photo taken against a white paper background. (The paper is actually just a roll of white wrapping paper I found at Hobby Lobby.) You should have seen me trying to take the picture for this. I was trying to balance the Tivo remote in one hand, making sure it’s above the white paper on my bed, all while holding the camera with heavy lens in the other. This was definitely one of those times I wished I had a tripod, LOL. I had to laugh though because when I showed Adam the picture, the first thing he said was “but your finger is on the rewind button, not the fast-forward.” LOL, thanks. I knew that but the shots with my finger on the other button just looked like I was holding the remote. I figured I was lucky I got a decent photo at all, LOL. What totally cracked me up was Jen did her layout about her Tivo remote too! What are the odds?! Tivo lovers unite! LOL

And I have another layout for you! This one is actually based on Digi Dare #39 which was to scrap what makes you feel like a kid again. I had these pictures from the park that I wanted to scrap anyway so I thought it would be perfect.

Big Kids at DST

This one uses quite a few Meredith goodies as well as Holly’s Flourishes which I’m totally hooked on. I’ve used them twice already and I’m sure they’ll show up again at some point. They’re just so versatile and fun.

Ok well that’s all I’ve got for now. We’re finally moving into our new house this weekend so I should probably thing about packing. Have a good weekend everyone! Until next time…

My big news!

Did you see? Did you see? newdarerssmall.jpg

I was chosen as one of the new Darers for the We Digi Dare Ya blog! I am so incredibly excited! I’ve been wanting to be a darer since the blog started so for me this is definitely a dream team. I hope you all come play along with us! So now for my first official layout as a Darer! Traci came up with a really cool dare this week involving emotion and color. Basically there was a list of colors with their corresponding emotions. The challenge was to scrap 80% of your layout in the color of your emotion. I ending up picking happiness and joy as my emotion which meant I had to scrap using yellow. Umm, yeah, yellow isn’t usually a color I use. I will admit to being a little scared about how it would come out but in the end I absolutely love it! This is the first time I really mixed and matched papers from different kits and I love how it looks! Check it out!

Birthday Emotions at DST

Isn’t it so cute! LOL The funny part for me is that these are pictures are from my recent 25th birthday and I’m totally excited about getting the movie Pochahontas. LOL! I’m a nerd, I know, lol.

Ok well that’s all I’ve got for now! Until next time…

Some layouts and some news!

Some news!
So I didn’t make it into the top 10 for the Queen of the Crop contest, but I did still have some good things come out of it. Two of the designers from the site invited me to be a part of their creative teams. Woohoo! I am now a proud member of both Meredith Fenwick’s and KristinCB’s creative teams! They are both fantastic designers and I can’t wait to get to show off all of their goods. Oh and if you’d like to check out the final layouts for those that did make the top 10 of the QOTC contest, you can do so here. Tomorrow is the last day for voting - I think Sunday the winner is annouced! I do have one other tid-bit of exciting news but I’m afraid you’re going to have to wait to find out. But I promise, it’s awesome!

I want one!
OMG, did you see the annoucement for the new Mac OS Leopard? It is sooo cool! That just settles it, my next computer is definitely going to be a Mac. (sorry Dad!) I had wanted to get one when I bought my current computer but the cost just wasn’t something I could justify at that point. But right now, I just can’t see ever upgrading to Vista after seeing all the beauty I can get from switching. I already warned Adam to start saving his pennies! LOL

Bring on the layouts!
So you’re in for a treat because today I have 2 layouts to share! Woohoo! The first was for the Digi Dare challenge to “Scrap Your Dorkiness.” As soon as I saw the prompt, I knew exactly what photos I wanted to scrap. I actually tried to scrap them when I first started scrapping but I could never figure out what to do with them. This was exactly the push I needed to get them scrapped. So now without further ado, I present to you, my dorkiness:

We Are So Cool at DST

(You can click the image to see the credits in my gallery or the link below the image to leave me some love at DST.)

Is that not the most awesome combination of photos ever? LOL They totally crack me up every time I see them. I’m not so sure Adam is thrilled that his picture was included but the story just wouldn’t have been the same without him. I guess he’ll just have to suffer for my art, LOL.

This next layout was for the Hodge Podge challenge to “scrap your girlyness.” I wouldn’t say I’m an overly girly-girl but I do have certain items that I can’t live without so I scrapped about those. Part of the challenge was to scrap with both pink and glitter - I think I met that challenge quite well, LOL.

The Keys to Girlyness
at DST

Ok well that’s all I’ve got for now. Be sure to check back so you can hear about my exciting news! hehe Until next time…
